Provide shelter, but not a mate. At 14 he is approaching the end of his life, and then you would be left with a hen without company. Sounds as if he is doing fine. Of course you could always follow Miss Lydia's advice and take him home.

I was looking at Purely Poultrys site a couple weeks ago and I am pretty sure Swan pairs were over 1000.00 I can't for the life of my understand how people can go and dump water fowl or anything for that matter.

I agree. How can people dump animals? Why do you think the swans are dumped though? We have lots of wild swan pairs around here.

My old drake {Muscovy} lived one month shy of 12 yrs. I also have a 10 yr old Muscovy female.

We have two year old Rouen. My husband and daughter came home from getting chicken feed with two ducklings... it has something to do with advanced chicken math, I think. His mate got eaten by a hawk last year when they were free ranging. It was awful! Luckily, our drake seems to be doing fine alone, though his run is right next to the chicken run. We’ve never had ducks before, so he’s been pretty entertaining!

2 swans? and 20 geese are the geese Canada geese or dumptees?

Our landlord would not approve of a new muscovy tenant. He barely tolerates the DIY cat window boxes.

Maybe a water fowl rescue somewhere close by? Just hate the thought of a Muscovy having to be out in that kind of weather with all that flesh. Ours here in NC is Carolina Water fowl rescue they are awesome at taking in all kinds of poultry and either finding them new homes or keeping there forever.

The city here is elevated with a handful on ponds on the way down being fed by the upper reservoir and run off. The other 3 or 4 ponds I'm familiar with all have wild swan pairs. There's a few proactive people here who feed and keep an eye on them.
