me and my dad have owned chickens for years he has around 35 in his coop and i have 3 chickens 2 female, 1 male.
1 of the hens is broody and almost impossible to break! Ive given her like fifty baths because people say that works, i take her outta the nest box like a million times a day! i also heard that the best method is to hang a cage so the cool air coming up from the bottom of the cage will UN-broody them but i only have 3 chickens and it doesn't seem right to have 1 roo and 1 hen together.
so if any one has had an extremely broody hen and found a method that works... TELL ME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Tried and true is a hanging wire bottom cage or at least a wire bottom cage that is elevated off the floor.
The cage can be in the coop with the others. It only takes about 2 days if done in a timely manner. It may take longer if one waits. Just make sure you have food and water in the cage.
We used to have 100 layers and we had about 5 cages hanging in the hen house. There were always a couple in broody jail.
I now have a nice wire cage that's slightly elevated and it goes in the coop of the guilty party. She stays in there a couple days and then back with the flock.

The wire 'broody breaking' cage is great. If you don't have such a cage lock her away from the nest boxes! It will take time, but she will break. If you continue to allow her access to the nest site she will stay broody.

then how does the other hen lay?

ohh and shes quite stubborn i think she will make a nest on the floor... but you don't know till ya try right?

true i might try the cage method but i'm planning on showing one of my hens at the fair and the rooster might cause stress to her so i am not sure...
