Miracle is beautiful.I just took this picture of Miracle sitting on my lap. She's turning into quite the nice lap chicken. Very sweet girl. I can't believe when I look back at the egg and how badly damaged it was...this girl is the result.
Oh my goodness! I wish I’d checked back with you sooner. I’m so glad you, Miracle, and the family are okay! This was Miracle waiting for the hurricane earlier. Then everyone came inside. The pullets came inside in the dog crate and the cockerels and the adults went in the garage pen. Holy tornados today. My goodness. Everyone is safe right now and hopefully remains so until the eye passes.
We are ok. We had a terrible tornado here that tore up my county but not my street. Thankfully. The hurricane blew a limb off one of my avocado trees. It also blew down my loquat tree and my cherry tree. The cherry tree went down on my chickens fencing so I had a lot of fixing to do. My house is fine. No damage. We lost power for 4 days and it was misery. My refrigerator did not like the GFI on my generator so I ended up having to throw out the food in my fridge and freezer. I had to call out of work a couple days to take care of my family. Every meal we had to cook on my charcoal grill while my food was defrosting.Oh my goodness! I wish I’d checked back with you sooner. So glad you and your family are safe, and the damage for you was minimal. And, you were able to bring Miracle and the flock to safety as well.We are ok. It's been an adventure and I'm so tired of storms. Everyone is safe and my house is not damaged. I am happy for those things! My co workers have had worse so I'm blessed. Some of my co workers live in the tornado disaster areas and praise God it wasn't me.
Ohh yeah my parents have that nice generator!! They got Generac installed. It starts as soon as the power goes out. I have solar panels on my roof but don't yet have batteries. The current battery technology isn't great yet so I'm waiting to see the newest batteries before I install any. Then I will have backup power. So glad you and your family are safe, and the damage for you was minimal. And, you were able to bring Miracle and the flock to safety as well.
It’s tough being without power. But, you grilled a lot, and that couldn’t have been too bad. The latest generator we had installed is great, because it automatically starts within seconds of a power outage. Hopefully, you can get the generator issues with the refrigerator worked out.
It’s sad that so many weren’t as fortunate. We hope for everyone to find their way back to happier times. Strength through adversity.
Please continue to update.

Miracle will be 17 weeks tomorrow. I'm so excited. She's getting close to egg laying time. I'm going to be switching everyone over to layer feed shortly. My mother hens didn't start laying til around 22 weeks so I expect about that for Miracle. She is so sweet now and I don't know how. She was broody raised and that broody bit me up! Miracle is a lap chicken now. I won the chicken lottery with her. It feels like God himself hand delivered her to me.
