Is it realistic to caponize a pet “illegal” cockerel?

Caponizing your cockerel won't make him quiet. I would send him back, better he has a short great life with a quick end.
Yes, I’m definitely thinking about this. I don’t want to be selfish and turn him into a capon if he’s not going to benefit.

my Rooster didn’t like bumble foot surgery at all which brings into doubt any bird calmly accepting its skin and flesh cut and testicles removed while they have a towel over their head.
There is field castration for newborn piglets and the saying is it doesn’t bother them. I couldn’t handle the squealing and screaming from one of my piglets when my experienced neighbor started to perform this on the first one. I couldn’t let him do it. No anesthesia? No surgery on my farm.

Yeah, I've castrated piglets before. Pig screaming is too human...but they were fine afterwards. But whoever does it needs to know what they're doing, otherwise it can turn into a horror show real fast.

I've thought about learning to caponize roosters, as it apparently makes them fatten up well for processing...I don't rear Cornish X so being able to fatten easier would be nice, but my spouse is even more bothered by the thought of that than he is of me butchering them.
