My chicken has been laying an egg a day but it's frozen when I find it! Is it safe to eat? Please help. I don't want to get sick but don't know how to prevent the eggs from freezing. Can't sit and watch her all day!

Okay, this may sound stupid, but, if the shell is cracked, will the inside of the egg be frozen too? Does it have to be defrosted? Can surplus eggs just be put into the freezer this way? Thanks!

If the shell is cracked it is probably well frozen inside.

you can let it thaw out and then use it.

If you try to fry it the yolk will generally break..

I too, would like to know if they can be frozen in the freezer for storage..

If they freeze solid they usually crack. If they don't crack they probably aren't solidly frozen. They are safe to eat but there is some concern over the cracks letting in bacteria. I would use cracked clean eggs quickly. I have plenty of eggs so I usually feed them to the pets. Not cracked eggs are perfectly safe. However they don't always cook normal. The whites can come out gooey and they don't fluff right in recipes. They scramble fine though.

My chickens just started laying last week, I've just been tossing the couple frozen ones!

Thanks, now I know I can just defrost them!

Thanks!!

So, if an egg is completely frozen, should I defrost it and then put it into a container to freeze? Or should I cook it immediately? Is it safe to give to someone who is young or old?
