Hi, just returned from T.S. to pick up more food for our 3 wk. old chicks. I bought online last time and they didn't have same brand so I got Eggland's Best. Upon getting home I realized the bag says "Chick Starter Grower Crumbles". I'm new to all of this and thought "starter" was for the first phase and then we would change to "grower". Am I missing something? I s this not the right type of feed for my chicks? I'm all out so need to know asap if I need to purchase something else.
Thanks!

Starter and grower are pretty much the same thing except that grower has lower protein. If they're less than a month old, you should be feeding 18-20 % protein. I believe that legally, grower only has to be 15%

Starter/Grower crumble 20% protein is what I feed for the life of my chickens. I have oyster shell in a separate container for my layers to eat when needed.

Okay, it says 19%. So I guess we're covered. Next time around I'll get 20%. I'll try to give them some high protein snacks to make up the difference. Thanks all for your help.
