is it time to give up on chicken raising...HELP frustrated with deaths

Did you check for moldy feed anywhere? Sometimes it can hide behind something or in the corner and can hurt your chickens. Look for anything else that could be poisoning them.

Thanks again. I thought about maybe a laying issue with the 2 hens who died in the middle (rosie the columbian and Hettie the Silver laced whydnott)They were both around that age. I tried the humidity treatment for Hettie, but it may have been too late. I did have some issues with moisture at the first. We had a very hot and humid summer. There were other reports of chickens dying with the heat/humidity and even? mosquito issues. I may have to get up the nerve if I have another death. My step daughter has a biology degree so may be helpful. We recently changed out the bedding and put DE down and the flea/lice powder to help deal with any of those issues. Clyde died since, but it seems maybe accidental. I am now left with Sara my silkie for the rooster. ( Sara was supposed to be a girl!!) Once I figure out how I will post some pics. Thanks again to all those who are helping. Must go check on the crew.

I hate to hear your situation, but fear I am about to be in your shoes. I have 6 hens. I have had them now for 2 weeks. They are 4-5 months old. Two came from one breeder. 4 from another. All seemed healthy when they got here. One was sheepish, but I assumed bc she was the youngest/smallest of the group. She seems to have gained some weight and some energy, but today was looking "sleepy" again. My cukoo maran didn't like the move here. She was stressed and had runny stools. It never got any better, and now she is a wreck. She sleeps almost all day and doesn't get out of the coop much at all. I quarantined her today and started all 6 on antibiotics. By the end of the day, I realized my NH Red was looking "sleepy" like there were bags under his eyes. He started wandering into corners of the coop and laying down every chance he got. Uh-oh! I am scared to death I am going to lose them when I go to a wedding this weekend. My father-in-law will be watching them, but if one of them dies on his watch, HE may never recover! I am at a loss as what to do....I can't find a local vet that knows anything about poultry. Geez! HEEELLLLPPPP!!!!!

Since they have been on your property for just 2 weeks, that sounds almost certainly like coccidiosis. They need Corid - or some other form of liquid Amprolium. If you can't find Amprolium, then maybe you can find Sulmet. They need it immediately. Antibiotics do not help cocci.
