Late update. Spoke to hubby late evening - there are FIVE little babies now!!
I was planning on leaving them in the incubator until late morning. Hubby says it's pretty crowded in there - the
Brinsea doesn't have very much room, but if you all think they should stay for awhile, I'm good with that as you sure have had good advice thus far. Thanks to every one of you who listened to me worry and fret and stew.
I'm just SO excited to finally have a successful hatch
We've spent the last 3 summers trying to hatch turkeys without any real success. Lots of dead embryos, lots of dead fully formed poults that failed to hatch... We were beginning to think someone had put a "turkey hex" on us
We've successfully raised cattle, sheep, hogs, ducks, geese, chickens... we had no idea turkeys would be such a challenge! Guess the incubator made all the difference - wish someone would have told me that 3 summers ago - would have saved a lot of heartbreak and money.
Yesterday was a fantastic day.
5 new fuzzy babies, and I got to save someone's life here at work. Most of the time my job is pretty routine, but once in a while, you get to make The Difference in someone's life and it gives you a really warm feeling. Life is just great some days, and yesterday was one of them. Gosh, what a fine way to end August and start saying good-bye to summer.
And now, only 4 and a half hours until I can go home and see those babies!!!
