Is it time to panic? NEW UPDATE - SEVEN!!!

Congratulations. I'm really glad everything worked out and hope they all hatch. You seemed so stressed but, you do have a good incubator and that makes a huge difference.

Thanks!

We've killed off dozens of turkey eggs in the last 2 1/2 years - this was our last gasp, so to speak. I can't wait to get home and see these guys in the morning. Lets see.... only 18 hours to go if I get out on time

Not that I'm counting or anything.

Shaun, congrats on the hatch. I missed all of this last night, I spent my entire evening after work yesterday running around retracing my day trying to find a lost set of keys, which I eventually did. Looking forward to checking in later to see how many more.

Turkey babies are cute but homely.

Good for you! I missed all the drama, but it was exciting reading! Its good to hear about other people that get so excited about their silly birds!

Great news. Waiting is really hard. Too easy to give into temptation and try to help when you need to walk away. Hope a bunch more hatch.

Probably should fine tune the temp for the next batch though. Sounds like you might be running about 0.5 degrees farenheight high.

PS will be waiting to hear if the wrong way poult hatches.

CONGRATS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

New update!

Hubby got home and found THREE babies. He thought they were dead, as they were all asleep. When he spoke to them they all woke up and came to the front of the incubator and said "hi".

He says one is dark reddish brown, the other two pale gray. So the one must be a Bourbon cross!

He says it looks like one more egg is nearly hatched, and some others are making progress. Can't wait to get home in the morning - only 13 hours to go... but who's counting?

So how many eggs are you putting in for the next hatch?? I knowwww you've thought about it already, haven't ya

Mine are not even breeding age and I'm fretting over wanting eggs to hatch, I can only imagine the emotions that you've all went through...but..but..you've got some now!!

Do ya have em' named yet?? lol Are you going to have DH send you pictures so you can see them tonight...that wait could be hours and hours to get off and get home lol

Hubby called says there's 4 birds now and another that has zipped. He thinks it's SO COOL that if he goes up and talks to them they all come to the front of the incubator.

Of course, if you promise not to tell, after I read that "talking turkey" to them might help, and the one I could see would move around when I did, he starting talking to them this morning

New question: If all the eggs haven't hatched in the morning, but some show signs of hatching, should I open the incubator to get these babies in the brooder?? Or leave them alone to help the others hatch without any disturbance?

If all the eggs haven't hatched in the morning, and the remaining ones show NO signs, is it OK then if I'm lightning fast? How long should I leave those eggs in the 'bator - they weren't expected to hatch until Wed night, so at least until then, right?

Thanks again for all your advice, help and love! I'd be bald without you, I'm sure.

Gosh - only about 11 more hours til I can go home!!

This is where I get confused... it sounds to me like these eggs did pip on day 26 and hatch on day 27 or 28. And I had a pea egg under a chicken hen, it pipped on day 26 and hatched under day 27. So isn't the time line about right here?
