Is it time?

Been getting more eggs this week while the birds are still inside but noticed tonight the ornamental pheasants has chipped in as well. Past 2 years incubator was started April 10th and 15th so it's a bit early for just a few eggs.Also for those sincere hatch-a-long friends,,now is the time to get your supply of sipp'in nectar reserves stocked up too.Anyone else have the "itch"?

NOPE ain't got the bug, but i am ready to hunt down all the easter egg nest and make a little money without heating up any eggs this year.

Not to go off topic, but zazouse, I see stuffed animals in your "baby coop".

Have you found them helpful? I'm assuming it is to give the babies something to snuggle up with and play with?

It worked till they heard or saw me walking by then they paced the fence so i used the pink pool doodles to keep them from touching the fence when they ran around it because that injured their beaks, i had to line the brooder walls with rubber shelf liner as all the babies were so imprinted on me they would get bloody beaks from running the fence when they saw me walk by.

I'm teasing. So I guess the stuffed animals weren't as enticing once they knew you were there.

Stuffed animals worked OK for chickens but even they paced the fence if they were imprinted just not like a wee pea, they will break your heart with all that stressful crying.

My babies go out of the hatcher and straight into an outdoor brooder, they have each other but new babies always go threw a few days of crying when they see me.

No eggs yet, and I hope not for at least 3 weeks... Haven't got my outdoor runs built yet, or even my birds split up. Too much on the go, and now with three kids, life is busy. Only have time to pop in once in a while, but I'll drink to the hatch-a-long, but I prefer a good brewski

I'm gonna plead weather! We got our birds split up and did some rearranging, but we haven't started our new outdoor runs yet. The old runs were in sorry shape so we tore them down last fall, thank goodness, because they never would have survived the winter. It has been so cold and soggy, last weekend we got over 3" of rain. We are hoping to go buy the materials we need tomorrow. The birds are finally calling and displaying, I saw several mating charges, but the hens are having no parts of it just yet.
