Is it time?

Sarah,,guess we will be babysitting your nebraska bird a bit Thursday? Was busy moving 2012 hatched birds tonight until we got rained out. Still sorting who goes with who this breeding season. The boys tho all look in their prime tho. Discovered one thing tonight,if wifey goes out and helps do chores in the breeding pens, all the males opens up and shows off. Next time when the suns out it will be photo op time. Bring your camera along, they might be nice and show you what trains they have been working on all winterlong.

I greatly appreciate you babysitting!

That is funny the boys realize your wife is female. We can't wait to see them all. And get our new babies. My boy let's me pet his tail but he hasn't displayed for me yet. My daughter measured it at 4 ft.

They are so calming and shhh don't tell the chicken folks...much prettier. ;-)

Must be a full moon coming or something. Came home tonight and had time to do some pea bonding and observing (almost my favorite passtime). I noticed last night a 3 year old bssp hen we put in with the bronze pen was sitting on top of their rain cover. Tonight she was still there and as I approached she tried to get up but stumbled. So,back to the house for a syringe full of vitamin E. When I gave it to her I noticed the back of her neck was slightly bloody but I put her back down anyway. She flew up where she had been earlier and I watched my bronze hen proceed to fly up and then start to pick at this bssp hens neck. Out she went to the old pen where she was before!
Next to the bronze is the Taupe pen,,so I went inside and sat on the ground and noticed one bssp hen was panting,,and my favorite bssp hen came over to where I was sitting and almost walked on my leg. After a few minutes the Taupe male started to walk towards me and both hens took off, almost running from him and flying up on the perch to get away from him. I remember what had happened last year in this pen to one of these bssp hens but niether was bloody today. I opened the gate and both these bssp hens flew off the perch and tried to beat me thru the gate out of this pen. So,,I loaded both of them up,and now they are back in with Roadtrip.
Last I went to feed and water my Yellow Goldens and Dark Red Throat ornamentals. Noticed one yellow hen wasn't outside and I looked inside the box end of their cage and there she was,,all bloodied up,with a spot about 1/2 the size of a dime on the back of her head with skin missing. These 4 yellow Goldens has been together for 4 years now,,never seperated and nothing like this has occured before. What a day!!!

Sounds like coup fever, they are restless and spring is here, hormones running crazy and no place to go.
All heck has broke out here with all my birds, guineas chasing each other all dayyyyyyyy long

Male ducks gang up on one hen when they got 10 between the 3 of them, geese giving each other the stink eye and get into full blown goose fights if one gets to close to the others hen by accident
And Peacocks are keeping each other busy with the Dance while they wait for the ladies to stop passing them by.

Nothing like the smell of pea pooh. Bluck lol

At least it wasn't scared pea poo i would have been able to smell it from 5 foot away

This has to be the biggest broody pea poo i have ever seen, last year they hid most of their nest away from the barn so they pooped before they got here from the nest, this one is close to the barn and that is another reason i think i have a hen in the loft, just to close to be anywhere farther.
Darn near tripped over that pile and broke my toe

May9th,,,first Merlot hatch-a-long will occur. Had about 15 ornamental pheasant eggs starting to get stale and 5 peafowl eggs,,4 IB and of course,,one BSSP from Roadtrips group. Anyone care to guess which ones will be fertile? All birds was moved outside last weekend,,there is 3 males in the IB pen,and 11 hens so far,,BSSP pen has 3 bssp hens, pne pied hen and a peach hen,,I'm laying odds none of the IB will be good but the BSSP will be.

No,first six pea eggs put in April 13th were practice eggs as none was fertile,Peacocks was just getting warmed up I guess, next week tho hopefully better news,,I still have to candle those to know.
