I had an old friend tell me that if an egg is more pointed on the pointed end it is a rooster. If the end isnt so pointed, more rounded, its a hen. Any truth to this?

Most definitely a myth - one of my SL Wyandotte hens lays only round eggs and another lays only pointy. Then I have a Cochin who just started laying and her eggs are perfect (just really small).

Sorry OPIE it is a crock, a load of bull, old wifes tale, don't believe it.

Nope. I hatched a whole bunch of little pointed pullet eggs and I got 3 times as many hens as roos. More pointed eggs usually just mean a younger hen laying small eggs if it means anything at all.

Ones a hen starts laying(not pullet eggs). most will be the same shape like a finger print. So if the shape of the egg had anything to do with the sex, one hen would be laying all same sex eggs.

Sorry to date there is NO WAY to sex a egg. No matter what you hear.
