Is it true you can sex a duck by the tail feather curl?

I was able to tell by the curl of the tail on the drake. And I could tell by the quacks. My drake has a raspy quack and my female has a loud deeper sounding quack. That's how I could tell the difference between them before I noticed the curl on the tail. So drakes have a raspy quack like they have a sore throat and the females have a louder deeper quack. At least that worked for the 2 I have!

Out of the 6 ducks I used to have, 5 were 'quiet' and 1 was 'loud'. The 5 quiet ones turned out to be males, the 1 loud one...well, I'm sure you can figure it out. Anyway, I think that once you've been around a few ducks, you CAN tell the difference in their 'voices'. My males have always been, without exception, nearly mute and the females have always been extremely vocal. Most all of my males also had curly-Q tale tips. All but my one crested male whose tail feathers curved in nearly the opposite direction, but I'll save that story for another time...lol!!! That's just been my experiences anyway. Good luck!

ooo what does that mean? we have 5 and only one quacks....
depending on how old yours are if only one quacks and the are gutie and sound like their hoarse that means you have only one girl as only girls do the loud quack and boys sounds hoarse
