I've always read that bigger breeds of geese can hold their own against a fox. Is this true?

I gave up all other birds because it was either always penned or risking getting eaten.

We have two dens, one on farm, other across the creek.

If it's true, how many do I need? Will I need a male as well or will all females work?
I'm thinking of 3, as farm pets.

It depends on the fox. Timid foxes get run off pretty easily, but once a fox figures out that geese are mostly just bluff the geese don’t stand much of a chance, I know someone on instagram who’s lost several embdens to foxes.

Definitely get a male!
We have a male goose, and he is very aggressive, he protects our flock from night roaming creatures, as well as warning us when something is scaring the flock, even honks at cars coming up the driveway!
Btw, our male is huge and has gotten the best of me, typically going after my leg, through the fence...

I managed to train my past ducks & guinea fowl to do it, but idk much about geese.

Definitely yes! Geese like routines and are smarter than ducks so if you teach them to go in at night they’ll be happy to. The only times they won’t want to is if there’s something in there like a snake, skunk, or whatever.
