one of my 4 week old chicks is making a crowing action with no sound coming out- although it could be retching/gagging..is it trying to crow?

(on a side note I wouldn't advise googling "gagging chick"...

HAHAHAHA on the google search. sorry I have no help for you though. Suggest that you just keep an eye on him, as long as he is not struggling or actually choking, it should not be to much of a concern. Maybe just a personality trait!?!?!

I notice every once n awhile one of my chicks will do this too, and I was wondering the same thing! Interested to see if anyone knows.

They do this to move things around in their crop (or into). My hens all did this as chicks.

LOL. The youngest chick I ever had crow was a 3 week old Silver Spangled Hamburg. I was astonished. Still am!

the crop theory sounds good!- was a bit frightened at first that it was choking!

I don't think even "safe search" can help you with those key words. LOL
