is it typical for chickens to lay infront of you?

Hello!
I have 3 EE ladies who are about one year old now. Each morning my dog and I go out to the coop together and feed the girls.
At times, one of the EE's will rush to a nesting box and lay an egg while my dog and I are in the coop with them.
Is this typical chicken behavior?

Your chickens trust you and your dog enough to go to the nest box to lay when the urge strikes, I think. Sometimes my chickens will lay an egg right when I am collecting the other eggs.

When you gotta go, you gotta go. It just means your hens are comfortable enough with your presence that if they do need to lay when you're there, they'll go ahead and lay. Some of my chickens won't get into a nesting box if there's a person in the coop, others will.
