That's about 2.25 per bird. If you have the room to quarantine them for thirty days far enough away from your birds you might take the chance. Since they obviously are being neglected you might offer to help care for them and observe them for the birds sake. Clearly she doesn't want to spend any money for feed.
If you don't take them you may want to call the authorities. Feeding them only bread is abuse as far as I'm concerned.

Yes I would get them, quarantine them, clean the up, give them a good dusting and some REAL feed and watch them become happy little chickens. Sounds like they need some love and attention as well as nourishment.

I can't believe they are still getting 30 eggs from a flock they don't bother to feed. Shame on them!

The eggs are just not good quality. The yolks bust as soon as you crack the eggs. and the flavor is not near as good, my youngest wouldn't even eat them.
My daughters best friend won't even eat store bought eggs after eating my girls eggs! Her mom now has to buy my eggs

I can't say for sure because I am no egg scientist but it just stands to reason that if you put in high quality you will get out high quality

My wife would say "No!" in a second. But I always get my way so we'd have them if I came across a deal such as that.

Certainly keep them quarantined. I am no expert and totally new with chickens but I'd medicate them for the more common ailments. But you will certainly have some friends with them if you feed them and get them healthy.
