Is Ivomec Plus for cows safe for goats? Does it work?

Hey everyone! I'm getting Ivomec Plus(injectable) for my cows and was wondering if it's safe for my goats(bred, lactating, open, and/or young). Does it work for lice and lungworms in goats? As well as for most intestinal parasites and such? I was using Dumor wormer pellets, but the last 2 times I used them, my goats got sick, so I'm looking for an alternative. I think my goats may have picked up some lice at a friends place, and I think one may have slight lungworms(or something that's making her cough). They haven't been wormed for about 3 months, so I figure that it's about time now. They're healthy goats otherwise. Two are bred(the two who I think got the lice visiting a friend's billy), one has a baby, and the rest are about yearly age open does(other than the buckling kid).

Ivomec works on goats but I forget what the dosage is. One thing to bear in mind as far as louse control goes, ivomec works on either biting lice or chewing lice (I forget which) but not both. I never did learn how to tell the difference anyway. For the control of lice you are better off to just use plain old louse powder. You should be able to find it at any feed store.

Ivomec is dosed at 1 ml per 50 pounds, some dose at 1 ml per 35 pounds. It can be injected, or given orally, my preference as it's though to work better. It good for lung worms and many other types, it doesn't kill tapeworm though.

I use a syringe with the needle to draw up the dose, than remove the needle and put the syringe in the cheek of the goat as far back as you can, keep their head tilted up, squirt and hold until they swallow.

As with all wormers there can be some resistance if any wormer is used too much.

Thanks! Ivomec PLUS is safe, too, right? The label and everything says just for cattle. I don't want my does to abort or anything.

I believe so, that's what I read, I haven't had any pregnant does for a few years, but I believe we used it on them, if you are concerned I would wait until she kids then worm her.
