Is lock down a strict rule?

The 4th just entered the world. Now I have a new question. Obviously now I don't want to open the incubator to get just the 3. How long should I wait before the feathers dry on the new baby so I can move them all at once?
It usually takes a couple of hours for them to fluff up.

Thanks for the pictures!

Here is our smallest baby. She does not act as strong as the others so I am taking her out now and then to hold her close to my body with a heating pad. It actually seems to be doing her good. She moves a bit more each time

Good job!

The smallest baby gained strength. I had 1 that could never sit up. He didn't have clubbed feet or splayed legs. I could never find a reason why. He couldn't eat or drink, and even though he was highly active, we had to end the suffering of not being able to eat or drink. As a 1st timer it broke my heart in a million pieces because I spent an hour and a half saving him from his egg that apparently was dying as it was turning almost black at the pipping site. We had 1 that had 1 clubbed foot and a splayed leg but we did a bandaid boot and in less than 2 hours he hoined the others and is fine. My final little one was another egg rescue at 3am yesterday morning. Both feet are clubbed, but he can sit up to eat and drink. He has not fully gotten the hang of his boots so we have him on his own. All together we have 36 happy, active, and being spoiled rotten babies. Here are some pics

It shouldn't take a real long time for them to dry. And it won't hurt the other to leave them in till that one is ready!! I've also used a spray bottle with some hot tap water and when I ope the incubator mist a little around and that also help the membranes from drying out and raises the humidity! Good luck!!

Nice pics. Glad to know some of the ones you helped are doing well. I hatched some this weekend and had my first splayed leg. I taped him up and in a couple hours he had busted the tape loose and was running around. It was pretty cool.

This weekend was my first staggered hatch and I did open my incubator a couple times (very quickly) while I had some that were pipped and some that were supposed to hatch the following day. This was also the first time I had some chicks die that were fully developed and pipped (4 of them). When I realized that they were getting "shrink wrapped" I went ahead and zipped 6 eggs that were pipped but had a very brown dry membrane. 5 out of the 6 made it and are as healthy as the rest.

From now on I'm never going to open during lockdown and I think I'm going to let them all hatch before I get any out....
