I know this sounds strange, but I do not recommend this as your only themomether because I have never used this to regulate an incubator, but there is a remote temperature and humidity sensing unit made by the Chaney Instrument Company called an Acu>Rite 00611 that may work you. It costs less than $30 and comes in two parts. One part senses the temperature/humidity in a remote location and transmits this information via radio to a display unit sitting on your coffee table up to 165 away. I know that my Acu>Rite is extremely accurate compared to the 6:00 TV weather and news but remember that the US Weather Service don't set many chicken eggs so I have never depended on my Acu>Rite to set or control an incubator . I do think that one would be useful to check the temperature and humidity on the fly inside a circulating air incubator without actually going to, looking at, or opening the incubator. In other words as a remote early warning device. There is also a trend line or arrow on the display unit that tells you if the remote temperature is trending up, trending down, or holding steady. I don't know that an Acu>Rite 00611 is sensitive enough temperature wise except to warn that something needs your attention. But I do think that it is more than sensitive enough to display the humidity inside a DYI incubator. However in a circulating air incubator an Acu>Rite 00611 may be more than accurate to do both. When you are through incubating chicks for the year, you can use your Acu>Rite 00116 to see how you want to dress without firing up your TV and waiting for Weather on the Eights.
