Is my Black Australorp chick is a rooster?

Ok, thank you! If they are rounded it is a female, and if it is pointed, it is a male.
The tail feathers are definitely more pointed then the rest. I have noticed the others tail feathers are starting to round like the rest of them, but this chick's tail feathers are definitely a lot more pointy.

That only works for older birds. With this much comb and wattle at this age he is definitely a cockerel. A male may not yet have visible pointed feathers.

Males get pointed hackles early.
Pointed hackles are a secondary sex characteristic that can come in late. This bird may or may not have them, but due to comb size, lacking them doesn't change what gender he is. Hackle feathers are a more difficult thing to go off of already. They come in at the same time and saddle feathers are much easier to tell. Hackle feathers in either gender are elongated so the difference is less stark. Pointed saddle feathers are super visible because their width is much less than the surrounding juvenile feathers. It's true that they come in at 8-10 weeks, but when a bird already has a red comb, he's still a cockerel despite them coming in late

This chick is too young for that to be reliable yet. ~12 weeks would be more likely.

Some Australorp hens mature early and grow combs. A big comb at this age is likely to be a male, but *may* yet be a fast-growing female.

If you wait another month for the saddles then you can be sure. :)
