I have a Cuckoo Maran that is also 6 weeks old and looks EXACTLY like that (except leg color) and everyone on here thinks he's a male too, so that would be my guess for you. But, he's a good-looking bird, so you should definitely keep Kissy (great name, by the way)!
Thanks for all your help. I was so hoping my eyes had deceived me and someone would tell me this was a manly hen.
sighhhh.......Unfortunately, I will not be able to keep this handsome boy.
Roosters are not allowed where I live.
This is going to just break my 5 year old daughter's heart. She holds him, cuddles him and loves him. (She named him) . Gosh, I hope I can find a good home. Someone who won't eat him for dinner. He is too sweet to have such a fate. I live off the Columbia river in Washington, around the Longview area. If it's ok, I'm going to link this post to the sell/trade area on our board. Maybe someone on this board will give him a good home.
edited to say: As a last effort....Is there absolutely no way this could be a hen???? Is all hope lost???

This is one our pullets at 7-8 weeks of age. You can see how she has more black in her feathering (a female trait) and take a look at her wattles and comb compared to your your chick. She's at least 7 weeks old and no wattles yet, plus her comb is pink while your chick's comb is red. I also have a picture of her at 16 weeks old with smaller wattles than your chick has. Unfortunately, I'd still say that your chick is a definite roo.
Your pullet looks like mine too at 7 weeks - barely any comb. Sorry he's a roo. I know how that is. I'm thinking I have a few in my new flock too and I'm just dreading having to rehome them. It always goes smoothly but I just hate the process. Good luck!
