I have a buff Orpington hen who has such a gorgeous rich buff plumage. She is so pretty and I want to show her in my local fair. Is she up to the SOP?

Common misconception: she is a hatchery Orpington. English Orpingtons were born in America too. (Most of them.) But neither hatchery Orpingtons nor English Orpingtons were bred to the American Standard of Perfection.
An American Orpington looks like this:

Not as extreme as the English but still larger, fluffier, wider, and fuller with a shorter tail and more even coloring than a hatchery Orp.

Do you think she could still do well in show?

It might depend on the show? I've never shown birds myself, but I also have a favorite hatchery girl I always wondered how she would do lol. Really I think you're supposed to be showing off your breeding work. 🤷
Its not very serious. People have shown hatchery quality birds before and they have done well.

Here's a couple shots of my girl as a pullet (pardon the funny angle maybe on the second pic), I need to get some good ones more current, but I always thought she had a beautiful tail angle like the real SOP birds. I would probably still want to breed her and then show maybe one of her chicks if I were to get some good looking ones.
