No way to tell it this point. The head spot is only really reliable in lines that are bred specifically to maintain that particular characteristic in relation to gender that is not true of most of the general population of barred rocks out there now. As the chick feathers in in the next 3 to 4 weeks you'll know as males and females do feather in with some pretty noticeable differences

I hope you enjoy being a BYC member. There are lots of friendly and very helpful folks here so not only is it overflowing with useful information it is also a great place to make friends and have some fun.

If you include your general location on your profile, this will assist others. Location, climate, season etc can be important factors when members are responding to any questions you may have and vice versa.

You might want to also Find Your State Thread and pop in and say hello.

BYC has a Learning Centre and also Topic of the Week discussions which I have found to be a great resource, informative and sometimes entertaining; so definitely worth checking out. These might be of particular interest to you but there are also lots of other helpful topics:
Topic of the Week - Sexing Chicks
Topic of the Week - Roosters, Yes or No?
Topic/Question of the Week: Aggressive Roosters - What is the best way to handle them?

If you want some opinions on gender when your chick is older, you could post here:
Breed or Gender Forum

Please do share more Pictures and Stories of your flock. BYC’ers never tire of these and do not back away slowly or commence eye rolling when the photo album or home videos come out ;)

Best wishes and good luck!
