Is my chicken a rooster???

We have a what we think to be hen..she is about 12 weeks old. We got her along with 2 other hens. One of which started crowing about 2 weeks ago (we had to give him away). This chicken has not crowed, but I have caught her "mating" the older hens (we have a flock of 16) on 3 different occasions in the last couple weeks. Is this a male trait? Is it dominance? Is it to get higher on the ranking??? I hope she is not a rooster or we will have to give her away also... please let me know what you all think!
