Is my chicken in love with me or trying to dominate me?..

My ‘lowest ranking’ is a sweetheart. If I am ever sitting in the yard, she’ll check on me every 20 mins or so and sit next to me. Sometimes she will put her head under my leg. I’m presuming that she finds me safe. She’ll often sleep near me. She has done the rooster squat to me for the last month or so (she’s almost 5 months old). But! If I lay in the grass, she tries to peck my butt and legs. Only from behind.
Is she trying to dominate me so she’s not the lowest or is it some other kind of behaviour?

Our two Orpingtons seem to like to peck my butt whenever I crouch down. I don't think there's any malice behind their behaviour, just curiosity perhaps, but that's just a guess. Hopefully someone else has a theory.

I would agree.
The majority of mine do the same thing.
I've also had them do the foot scratch on me, and even a few chicks that decided to dust bathe on me. Yeeeeaaahh.

It's not malice, it's curiosity.

Thank you! She would try to dust bathe on me as a chick. Maybe she’s a little special....

It’s just curiosity. My 6 week old chicks peck at my legs and butt when I’m in their run crouched down; it’s usually threads from my clothes (I wear old ratty stuff that goes right in the washer after handling chickens), strings and anything that looks different. And sometimes I swear to god, I’ll get pecked bc one is jealous that I’m playing with another. I don’t think there is anything dominant about it. They also peck at my freckles and my wedding ring.
