i have a male and female cochin, and my female has already 13 eggs and i want to know if she is going to sit on them cause everyone i know who had cochins told me that everyone of there cochin hen has got broody. and also my female is nine months old

my cochin was about 15months old when she finally went broody, first she collected 5clutches with 8-10 in each.

maybe she isnt ready to start her family just yet...try giving her a few more weeks or months.

I've had a couple that were broody like crazy from a very early age, and a couple that weren't broody until they were a couple years old. But then they were sure good mamas. Today I definitely have one broody bantam cochin, and she's 11 months old. Be patient, spring fever will most likely hit her soon.

i put her in a small cage with her eggs and know i she her inside the nest box does that mean she's broody

How does she act if you mess with her? Like put your hand under to mess with the eggs, or even just touch her? Does she fluff up her feathers, growl at you at all, peck your hand? Those are sure signs of broodiness that almost all of mine do. If you've got her in a small cage with a nest in it and there's not much room to move around, she just might be staying on the nest for comfort. But it could be that she is broody... mess with her a bit.
