Is my duck in love?…😂

Yeah, I’m actually having a bit of a problem with drakes right now… I have five drakes and three hens but only one of the drakes is actually breeding right now. Once they begin breeding, I plan on hatching some of their eggs and getting females and then selling two of my drakes so that I can level this out. I feel terrible because I was going to sell one of my drakes as a duckling, but then his sister died so I had to get another duckling for him which I then found out was a drake and I didn’t want to end up with no ducklings so I kept them both. One of them has been a bit of a problem lately so once I’ve got ducklings from him, I’ll sell him pretty quickly. Only problem is finding a buyer…
Try here on the buy sell trade forum or rehoming forum sometimes members prefer an all drake flock to having females.

Update: yesterday I brought them all out to swim together and they were all having fun and then pancake came up and started doing her little head bob and then splayed out in front of cheese. Cheese looked confused for a second, and then just started splashing in the water again…😑 hopefully pancake learns her lesson before she gets crushed!

Update: it’s getting worse…she still loves him and is now letting him mate her. He hurt head and now I have to keep them separate. She’s in a separate fence than him and they always stay right next to each other by the fence. I do not want to continue separating my ducks as my goal is to get them all in the same area so they can all swim in the big pond during the summer. What do I do? Any ideas?

Rehome cheese, perhaps. You have too many drakes and he is size inappropriate.
Yeah, I’m still working on the ratio. I’ve been getting more female ducks to try and even it out. My call ratio is good, but this girl just only likes this one boy. And he’s actually one of my favorite ducks so I don’t think I’ll be rehoming him. Thank you!
