Is my goat Betulia pregnant or not? SEE TWO PICTURES

So the rumen is on the left and babies on the right...
My girls all seem to bag up weeks in advance, but once the udder gets shiny they are really close. Just make sure you are feeding her lots of good hay, trim up her feet and supplement selenium and vit e so the kids come out strong!

the selenium, from what i understand, is local specific. for instance in one part of a state there may be a problem and an other part, no problem. but the main thing is where your hay comes from... if the goats are eating mmostly forage, then u have to check your own area; if they are eating hay from a hay store (here there are , i guess its mills, that are the hay/feed stockage places. you order in advance if u are a farm or have more then one goat. if not, u are reliant on local farmers to foist off a few that they havent sold to the mill, or thru a friend of a friend .... at any rate, agric centers should be able to tell u what area has which minerals, and/or test the hay/feed mineral levels (or ask local large farms who dont grow their own, but buy)...

make sure to check with goat owners to find out what they are doing for the Se/VITAMIN E injections; not everyone needs to give them, and too much is not good in this case.
yep. healthy feet= healthy goat. if her feet are in bad shape, she wont excercise and wont eat properly...

ah-- i was the manager of a petting zoo for an amusement park run by our kibbutz. it was a 24/7 365 day job... for ten years, previously i had done it part time (on our saturday once every four weeks duty roster work), am now in hotel reception /reservations or something of that sort... (here we move around quite a bit in jobs)

we had goats as pets, various fowls (which at the time i was totally not interested, now the guy that used to take care of the fowls laughs at me about my chickens in the house, etc), a donkey rescue (unofficial but everyone in the area, vets etc, knew that i always took in donkeys, here, they get abused, starved, burnt, tortured, neglected and overworked so the various gov't agencies/police/army are always confiscating donkeys and looking to place them in good homes. at one point i had 13!, including a few foals that were born while with me).
we also had a rotating bottle raised lamb or three; when old enough , went back to their farm to become, most likely, meat or milk, we had reptiles (non poisonous only), an emu or two, at one time had ostriches who became bbq dinner after attacking employees (who refused to listen to me about training them to go in to an enclusure before an employee enters the large yard), and various wild israeli animals that were rescues, as part of wildlife rescue organizations cooperation... so had at various points foxes, caracals, swamp cats, gazelles, ibexes, and at one point we also had a camel, and some alpacas... we aslo had a rescued arabian stallion that hsi owner no longer wanted because of a badly healed broken leg (didnt want to do operations), but couldnt put down either. we had a hand raised mediterreanean porcupine, ferrets...

... just amazing!!!

so whats the progress, Ive been wanting a goat lately lol
Oh we welcomed little RAYO last Monday! She rejected him though... He's the pic in my avatar. I am bringing him to her for feedings and she seems a bit better but will try to roll him over and bumps him away if we leave them alone. A couple mentor have been here giving me support and I have decided since I will be milking her, I don't mind bringing hm for his feedings. The bottle seemed super messy and he dislikes it.

Let me tell you, this buckling is the cuttest thing and I am soooo surprised of how easy has been to care for him. He's getting used to the kids and us and just jumps up and down when he sees us. Is nothing like having to care for baby dogs or chicks. She had a great pregnancy and delivery... besides she's giving tons of milk even whith supernummerary teats (multiple teats). I am really enjoying this one...
