Nope, not splash. Splash is part of the blue gene family, producing a mostly white bird with a few "accent" feathers in black or blue. A splash is a black bird who has inherited two copies of the blue gene.

In that case, what would you call his coloring? I need to know how to advertise him if I decide to sell him...

Also, there is a pullet with him of almost identical markings, only hers are slightly paler, as pullets tend to be...you know, not so flashy...

I don't know the technical color terms at all, I have a girl w/ that coloring I call her apricot and white.

From my reading on this site, not every color combo has a name, I would bet this is one of those situations.

That sounds nice...an apricot and white...or maybe apricot and cream to appeal to those hungry and chicken seeking? LOL

Thanks for the reply!

The White he has in him is Dominant White and a pure Wheaten X Crele wouldnt produce that color becuase neither of them are dominant white so you got some other parent in there .

A White tailed Buff would be the closest color name for it though but you should try to figure out what bird the Dominant White came in from .

Also Do you have a pic of the crele roo that is the alleged father ? If he was a light crele and had two copies of barring like most of them, then his chicks should be golden barred , though if he was darker and only had one copy then half of his chicks would get the barring and half wouldnt. And if you only hatched a few its possible that you hatched just ones that didnt get it but the Dom White still had to come from another color other than Wheaten or Crele.

I actually do have a pic of his dad... and rareroo, I owned these birds for months before the eggs were layed and I have not owned a white rooster. I had a white cockeral for about a week but he was in a dog crate on my porch the ENTIRE time I owned him and was a LF. I will see if I have a pic of his mother too. Both mother and father were killed by a dog shortly before he hatched but like I said, the only possible parents were wheaten hen (unless I have my color description wrong which is entirely possible) and the dad was (from what I have researched about color) a Crele roo. Here's the pics:

Found a pic of dad, not of mom. The hen with dad in this pic is identical to the chicks in questions' mom except real mom had no black at all, in the tail or otherwise but was wheaten of the same shade otherwise. Also, I do not have a white hen in the mix at all either. I had, at the time, two black tailed wheaten hens, one crele hen, a wheaten with blue?? tints on back feathers (don't know technical name for this)hen, and a wheaten without black in the tail. Be patient with me as the technical names elude me... All are old english game bantams, and there was absolutely NO chance for outside influence as I only have one neighbor with chickens and theirs have never escaped their enclosure. (and they do not own any white bantams)

OK I see what it is now, your roo is dark so he only has one copy of barring so half of his offspring when breed to a non barred hen wouldn not have gotten the barring gene so that explains why you hatched non barred chicks from him and if you say then mom had no white in the tail, then she would be the one carrying Dominant White. I wasnt meaing that a solid White bird was the one the Dom White was brought in from ( the White in Red Pyles is dominant White, same as in say.. Buff laced Polish or Seabrights) So if she had no black in her tail then she had the Dom White masking it and the buff makes it hard to see the white, I have two buff hens now that are carrying Dom White and the only way to tell it is some faint white on about two of thier tail feathers. It really has to be looked for to see it but they are from a BO roo on RI White hens and RIWs are dom white so I know thats what it is and how they got it. So it would be same case with your hen and see would have the almost unnoticible Dom White in her tail which brings up another point that I remembered this morning, the hen you used would acually be a White tailed Buff then instead of a Wheaten ( and the one in the pic beside the roo looks like a Black tailed buff instead of wheaten btw.) And the reason I can tell you that is becuase Wheaten is Recessive and the Crele is Duckwing based so if you hen was Wheaten and with it being recessive, if she was bred to your roo, the chicks would be Duckwing based so you would have hatched Creles and BBReds with your particular roo that only has one copy of barring.

So with that said, then I think we can decree that a Het. Crele roo was crossed with a White tailed Buff hen which would give you White tailed Buff which is what you got and can advertise him as. Though if you had hatched larger numbers you could have also possibly gotten Barred White tailed Buffs, Barred Black tailed Buffs, and Black tailed Buffs.
