Hi!

I got my hens back in February when they were about 3 months old... I was told at the time that they were both hens and would be laying by now. While my other hen is showing signs of laying soon, my other hen (Mayor McNugget) isn't showing any signs and I am wondering if she may be a Roo?

Here is what she/he looks like

Nope! She is a pullet! Every hen is different and may lay at different times! It can take up to 6 months for a hen to start laying!
It can take even longer than that! I've had some start at up to ten months of age :) This is more common in slow maturing breeds however but every chicken is different

Definitely a pullet! Very pretty! Some breeds just take longer to lay and individual hens may just be slow maturing. I've heard of a chicken taking a year to lay an egg.
