Is my hen going broody?

No, still laying
Then, once again, keep an eye on her. She may be in the early stages of broodiness still, but what you have described sounds pretty broody to me.

Thats not true.I had a bantam who laid during her broodyness, she was full blown.

Pearl the duck, what you have described sounds almost like a confused hen .I have a hen who dies what yours does and i know she for a fact she isnt.I am think you probably do not have a broody onve agian.

Have you seen anything new?

If she is still laying eggs then she is not broody.
Wait until she stops laying eggs and stays on the nest day and night for 2-3 days before you order your hatching eggs, unless you have an incubator to fall back on.

No, nothing new. She hasn't sat on an egg since I posted this.

No I don't have an incubator. I don't think I'll order eggs, but if I do I'll make sure she is for sure broody. I'm leaning towards waiting until next year

I got six chicks the other day (2 buff orpington's, 2 brahma's, 2 sicilian buttercups) and I might just wait until next year to hatch eggs, I also got 3 ducklings the other day and I think I got a drake. So if I did get a drake and if I got a roo out of the six chicks I got (4 out of six chicks are straight run, the two buffs are for sure pullets) it would work out perfectly for next year! I could hatch my own ducks and chickens, which in my opinion is better than ordering eggs because it's your own animals eggs.
