Is my hen molting or has mites?

Hi all!

My little Russian Orloff is losing her feather on back. I don’t have a rooster, so it’s definitely not from mating.
I do see fluffy feathers growing so I guess she is molting but I wanted to ask to experts to so I don’t have to overly concern. Her skin seems really dry though.. is this normal? is there something I can help her?

Inspect her really well for mites and lice, going out at night and looking around the vent at night and running a white paper towel along roosting bars to see if there's any bugs will tell you if there's mites.

The feathers on her back are broken and/or plucked. Another hen is plucking her and/or mounting her. Observe the flock to see what's happening, even during roosting.
She may regrow feathers that have been plucked out, but the ones that are broken won't regrow until she goes through a molt.

I checked her vent and other areas and no mites nor lice were found. It maybe from another hen! she was always the bottom of pecking order and she still is… poor girl. should I separate her during roosting? She already has a history of getting pecked when she was pullet, I used to blutcot her and the bully got better. well it looks like the bully started again. oh no..

I wouldn't separate her, that's just added stress for her.

Did your girl get any better?
I've got 3 girls that look similar and have had broken tail feathers for quite some time now.
There's no bullying from what I see nor mites. But I don’t want the rest of my girls losing their tail feathers.

Hey there! Sorry I checked this so late.. I think it was either bully or she’s picking her own since she’s broody right now.. so i made her wear the ‘saddle’ and the feather is growing back!
