Is my humidity too high for lockdown?

I aim for 50-60% Have hatched as high as 65%-70% but have noticed chicks drowning at that humidity level. I am for 50-60 as a main goal. Really dry air around here to though.

Our last hatch, we didn't do so well. We kept ramping up the humidity because everyone told us 70%. I had to rescue 24-hour old chicks from the incubator that were obviously drowning, and several others pipped but didn't come out. I thought they were shrink wrapped, but now that we've learned what we were doing, I realize that I had drowned my chicks.

This time, we're going to not ramp up the humidity to more than 50%-55% at lockdown. I think things will go much better this time.

You had 24 hour old chicks that were drowning? How did that happen? I'd have thought if they'd hatched out okay, they couldn't drown after that. What happened to them?
