I have 12 6week old red sex link girls that adore me and my family as much as we adore them. Yesterday we decided to add 3 more chickens to the flock, which r mille fleur bantams. A lady was giving them away on Craig'slist. She told us that 2 of them r roosters and one is a female. We introduced them to the girls and the alpha male didn't take long to try to take over the girls, which I know is normal. He was actually getting too aggressive with them so I separated the 2 roosters from the girls and left the supposed new "girl" with the rest of our original girls. However this morning I saw the "girl" have our ladies under submission and all frightened in a corner. Doing EXACTLY what the males were doing yesterday, so I was wondering, did I end up with 3 roosters?? Here is a pic of them. The suspect is on the left

Wow nice fast response! Thanks! Great..... Now I've got 3 roosters and 12 girls.... Ugh now I'm stuck... I hate craigslist
Well, at least the lady didn't lie. She told you what she THOUGHT. But my eyes can see clearly that all them boys have the same amount of comb. I know being inexperienced makes it harder to know what you are looking at sometimes.

No they are not roosters and won't be for sometime. Roosters are a whole other animal than immature cockerels. If you wanna keep any of them... I suggest keeping all 3 together and separate from the hens while they get some maturity. What they are showing now is not aggression but sheer hormonal stupidity of a teenage boy. I let all my boys grow out a good while before they can access the ladies.

Using some discernment... I love Craigslist!

You can always work to rehome some of them... you don't have to be "stuck". Really since you didn't use any quarantine just hope no illness shows up.

For me... first flock should be rooster free. They are wonderful to have around, but it helps to have some experience under your belt.

Good luck with making decisions and having a wonderful flock you can enjoy! :fl
