Hey guys so I have 2 parkeets a male and one I don't know.I do know that they are older than a year. They both go in the breeding box every day this has been happening over than 3 weeks.please help.
Her cere looks female to me, so I would say she's a girl Not in breeding condition though; her cere has not turned brown. Budgies are colony breeders, so they may not give you chicks without being around other pairs.
We were told our budgies wouldn't breed indoors as a pair. They raised many clutches together! Your female hasn't matured yet so you'll have to wait a bit longer. When she does her cere will go dark nut brown. Your male may be keen but your female isn't ready yet so she'll just be playing house.
And on the opposite side of that, I had a lone pair for many years that never gave me chicks. They even mated, but without other pairs around, the female was never stimulated to lay eggs. So it could go either way
That was back when we were kids and my sisters lovebirds also bred prolifically in her bedroom, once having babies in a hollow coconut when she took out the proper nestbox. We soon learned not to leave anything nest-like in their cage. The old family home must've had good baby vibes!
