Is my Pekin really something else?

It's more like a mating between two different species for this case. Muscovies are one species, pekins belong to the mallard species. So it's more like horse x donkey or donkey x zebra.

The cross babies will be mules- sterile hybrids. French people do this cross for "moulards" dinner table meat ducks.. and also for duck pate.

Congrats and welcome to the world of poultry/waterfowl keeping!

I am so glad to see this thread. I went to pic up some abandoned ducks they identified as pekins. I saw some had a pink bill - I took two muscovies and 4 pekins!!!!!

I have two muscovy females and they are the best. They are the sweetest girls and soooo quiet. I pick mine up and love on them alot. Daisy is precious!!!!

He/she will be able to mate with other kinds of ducks but the resultant offspring will be sterile.
