I recently started to notice that my American Blue buck has reddish brown patches on his sides. The fur also has a different feel to it. This is new for him and I have had him for over a year. I noticed it a couple of months ago and thought it may go away with shedding, but it hasnt. He also shed in chunks instead of loose hairs like the others. The guy I bought him from did have NZ as well as Americans. He said they were pure and I did see the parents who looked nice and blue. But now I wonder. Im selling these guys and want to know what Im selling.

That brownish coloration can be due to "sunburn" or urine bleaching. If he's not out in an area where he's exposed to sun, it may be that he's sprayed himself (or been sprayed by a nearby buck) with urine. This thread from BYH may be helpful.
Very interesting. Thank you!
Can I copy this to my BYH thread? Someone who replied to it is also having this issue.
