Is my Rhode Island Red Broody

A pile of feathers like she has been killed or a small pile of feathers in the nest box? They will pluck chest feathers to line the nest and increase heat transfer to the eggs. Also, hens will often get off the nest for up to an hour a day to eat, drink, pooh, and dust bathe.

i think she was taken there was a dog print in front of the box and feathers every where she was 6 months old

I'm sorry. :(

I had to hot wire my run because my then puppy kept trying to dig in and was tearing the netting off to try and get to the girls. He had managed to kill several of my girls when they would accidentally escape. I don't let him out when they are free ranging he'd tear through them in no time. After getting zapped a couple of times he stays away from the run for awhile until he forgets and then I turn it back on and it's ZAP! Best $60 I ever spent.

thanks sorry on the girls you lost im going to get another hen to go broody but i have MOVED the laying boxs in the coop so they will be safe thanks to all
