Hey guys,

Hope all your flocks are doing well.

I've been noticing my lead rooster doing something kind of odd the last month or so when I go out to see the chickens.

I sit down in the coop or in the run, doesn't matter, and he kinda shuffles up to me, sideways, and he seems to be doing something with the wing that is on the side I can't see.

Is he attempting to impress me? The first time I saw it I freaked out a little and thought he had a neurological problem or something :gig

Sounds like he thinks that you're one of his ladies. I'd much rather have that than the jerk that I have that wants to kill me.

I'm sorry. I had one bad roo. He went to live with someone else. :(

Yes, having a roo who loves you is wonderful. I have a stool in my coop to help my silkies get up onto the roost and if I sit down next to it he'll hop up onto it and preen my hair. I adore him. :love

There are good roosters. Ditch your jerk and try again. If he's brought up from a little chick around your girls they'll probably peck some manners into him.

I wish you luck. Mine was hand reared with many other boys and none of them turned out mean like him. I don't think he was terribly bright either, because even after giving him treats, gentle treatment, holding him down to establish dominance, etc, this 5 lb bird was still convinced he was going to do me in. I cried when I gave him away. :'(

He's herding you. You have reached an honorary position in the flock.
It's not aggressive behaviour. He may peck your foot as well.
This article explains a bit about it.

Hm, he has never pecked me at all. We'll see if that develops as well. I'm flattered he loves me. Not sure what to do about it though. I hope he's not feeling rejected.
