You're his keeperI pretty much am.I'm the only momma he's ever had. And he's super bonded to me.
I know Oedipus is for humans. It was supposed to be a joke. You're his keeper
Oedipus complex is a human condition,
all cock/erels mate any female chicken they can...and sometimes other things.
You may have an anthropomorphic complex![]()
I interpreted it as a joke and nothing more.I know Oedipus is for humans. It was supposed to be a joke.
My chickens are totally my babies though. They are the joy in my life.
MY condolences about Celine Dion.My cockerel would fluff his hackles and lunge towards me. I’d stand my ground and never had an issue as he’d back down. I couldn’t turn my back though because then I’d get a flying kick of claws to my legs.
He attacked anyone else that went near him or in the run. He’d always run at and try to peck my husband and kid. To the point my husband refused to go in the run or collect eggs. I said “stand your ground and you’ll be fine.” But that eventually stopped working. He managed to draw blood from anyone that collected eggs or cleaned the coop.
Unfortunately despite my efforts to defend him - and multiple factors taken into consideration - I lost the argument and Celine Dion, the cockerel, was euthanized.
Thanks, but I know my birds and I'll take my chances. If he wanted to attack me or peck my eyes out he could have done it a million times over already. He is banjo playing and is a first sign of aggressive behaviour. He is telling you to back off from his Hens. You definitely are not his Mommy!
He knows he is a Chicken and I run my guy off if he tries that with me..![]()
I'll keep an eye out, but I'm not worried.Whenever my rooster did that he then flogged me. It wasn't to impress me or that he was thinking I was a part of the flock.
Keep an eye on that guy. That's the first sign of agression.
