Is my rooster broken?

It looks like the little Barred Rocks just like to crow late. I had one who is now about 16 weeks and the little guy hasn't even made an attempt to crow. Had two Lakenvelder's of the same age who started a few weeks ago and crow constantly. I gave the the Barred Rock to my mother since I only have room for one roo and he is just a doll. He is happily mating with his entire harem constantly and still not a hint of crowing.

Now THAT's the kink of rooster that I want!

LOL....I suppose it would be nice, but I can't seem to convince my 7 y/o (who asks his gramma almost daily if he is crowing yet) that I didn't just accidentally give away his hen!!!! He keeps saying "SEE!!!! I TOLD you he was a girl!!!"

I have a RIR that didn't start crowing until he was 24 weeks. I thought I had just stumbled upon a mute rooster initially. But now he is one of those roos that has no internal clock. Crows at all, and I mean all, hours. I guess it is payback for having such a peaceful first 6 months.
