Thank youWell done!
In my case, the lousy hen was a new addition to the flock so I am sure she came with the liceI would rather tend to think she might have had lice because he did not let her dustbath and preen herself in peace.
Thats why it is best to quarantine new birds and treat for external and internal parasites prior to adding them to the resident flock. In my case, the lousy hen was a new addition to the flock so I am sure she came with the lice
True that! Sorry the hen's been traumatized, but hopefully with time she'll forget. Well done! It's really good to hear you've helped your flock find peace.
You made the hard choice like a good keeper, and you'll know what you're seeing if it ever happens again
Thanks! I hope it doesn't happen again. That whole situation was hard on my heart. Glad things are settling down nowIt's really good to hear you've helped your flock find peace.

Interesting advice…. We have a hen that is not being accepted by our rooster and I’ve just discovered she’s got lice!!The only reason I’ve ever had a rooster try to chase off a hen was because she had lice and all the chickens knew it before I did… once that was taken care of he didn’t chase her off anymore.
I’d check your hen over well before making a decision but if you don’t find anything I would definitely get rid of Buddy!
