is my rooster sick?

hey everyone, i’m new to all this but i had a quick question. i noticed my roosters comb looked awful dry, upon further expection i noticed the black dots, does anyone know what this could be from? thank you

Tell us where you're located in the world. Geography and climate have a lot to do with when chickens' hormones are active or go dormant, and climate determines what pests and diseases are likely to afflict your flock.
 
At your latitude, hormones remain dormant a bit longer than those of use in the southern part of the US. This causes combs to be pale and dry. As longer days activate hormones, combs will plump and darken and become rich and moist.

If you have other roosters and older hens and if this is a young roo, those black spots are most likely pecking injuries. If you coop up your flock in winter, and there is a bit of overcrowding, that can aggravate aggression.
