Is my rooster too polite or just stupid?

I have a Belgian rooster around 1½ yrs old and he won't mate with the hens! He crows,feeds them and even has his favorites but iv never seen him mate with one. It's not even like he's not interested with them I'll see him waltz for them but as soon as they crouch to tell him it's alright to mate he walks off! He prefers the big ladies over the other little Belgians so maybe size is the problem?

Just because you have not seen him mount a hen does not mean he is not doing it. Have you looked at your eggs to see if they are fertile? Look at the pictures on this thread.

My Pheonix is the same way, but I know he works because there's always a chick or a broody somewhere. He's very polite and seems more than okay to just do it every once in a while rather than every time a hen passes him (My other rooster)

Though size could very well be a part too since he has choices. My mixed breed had a favorite hen because the others were either too small or too tall for him ro do it easily
