Hi! I just wanted to know if my silkie is a hen or a cockerel? It's very sweet and doesn't crow.. It loves to be petted and is always around me when I'm in the coop. Is a pic needed? I'm new to chickens and I don't know what all I should include :p thanks in advance!

A pic would be needed, and silkies are really hard to sex visually, so you might not actually be able to tell until it either crows or lays an egg :)

Lol yup! Here's a pic:

Can you get a profile shot? For silkies the early tell is whether they have streamers coming off the back of the crest. How old is it?

I've gotta say cockerel. The pic looks cockerely, and the personality sounds like a boy. I've had skadoodles of Silkies and have never had a hen who loved to be petted. My roos are far more affectionate, the hens are just grumpy...but a profile shot would help :-D

I'll get a profile shot tomorrow, right now the flock is sleeping ;) thanks for being so patient! :)

Lol, with all the differing guesses in here, I think the profile shot will prove to be necessary. So far it's split right down the middle between cockerel and pullet, it seems.
