Is My Silkie Deaf?

I would also check for blindness too. But an ear infection or possibly a poke to the ear drum could effect the hearing.

I hope she will be ok! :)
I just did a blindness test someone suggested. She did react to my fingers sneaking up behind her head.

One thing that could be is that she could have at some point received a blow to the head that could have damaged her sensitive head. She could be simple or retarded and that could cause the running into trees. Just a guess.

Hm. That could be...

I have a deaf silkie, she even clucks funny, but she is happy and healthy other wise and none of her chicks inherited it

I did the clap/snap test, and when she didn't react I ended up getting one of the dog training clicker and clicked it right beside her head, and she didn't react. You can walk into the coop and the others will run up to me, and she will be in the back eating or pecking around until she sees me. She sounds very odd whenever she clucks, its very pitchy. But I absolutely love her, she is such a sweet heart!

She sounds very sweet!

Thanks for all of the information. I'm thinking Little Peeper Jr. might not be deaf.
