I feel the comb is much to large unfortunately to be a girl.

Do Lakenvelders generally have larger combs? It definitely has a bigger comb of the bunch but maybe it’s an early comber? Wishful thinking?

Has a bigger comb than my 10 week old cockerel.
Mine is an Orpington, which are pretty fast comb growers.

i don’t have a buff to compare to, but I do have an ISA brown, a welsummer, RIR, and cream legbars.of the bunch, this is the biggest.

Every time I think its a male but hold out hoping its going to be a female, it turns out to be a male.... but not harm waiting. I live on 3 acres in a hamlet I figured for sure someone would complain about my rooster but 5 years later nobody has

I don't know how it works with this breed at a young age but that comb looks pretty pale to me. I've had a ton of chicks with big combs that grow to be pullets.

Little cockerel. If your in the country why can't you have roosters? How far are you from your neighbors property?

I’m not sure if roo personality shows this early but it’s my least friendly chicken. Screams when I pick it up, runs away, yells if I take another chicken out of the run. I k ow they are flighty, alert birds so maybe it’s just part of their nature.

I replied earlier, but I moved to a small neighborhood of 10 houses. I have four acres, but there is still an HOA. It’s pretty rural, especially coming from the suburbs.
