I went and picked up 5 bronze chicks today. 2 males, 3 females. Once I am positive that they are going to live, the new cage will be built. I'm thinking 12x12 x 8' tall. I guess that I will have to put a roof on it.... Besides roostin bars, food and water....do they need anything else in the pen?....Nest Box, etc?? I would say that the majority of their lives will be spent in the cage, but will be let out in the evenings that I am home. I just want to make sure I have everything in the pen that they will need. thanks.

Congrats on the new chicks!!!!!!! How old are they? You will have to post pics of the babies when you can. I would love to see them.

A roof will be great to help keep out predators. Roost, feeder, waterer and sounds like you are set! You can put a nest box in if you like. I have some turkeys that use a nest box and others lay eggs on the ground. You can give them either option.

Sounds like you are on the right track and headed in the right direction.

Keep us posted on their progress and if you have medical problems, please post ASAP. No question is a dumb or crazy question, so don't be afraid to post what you may think is "trivial". Everything is important when it comes to animals.

They were just born on Tuesday I think. They guy at the store recommended a spoon of hummingbird feed powder in their water to keep they metabolism up while they are still small. I will post some pics later on. Right now they are on Turkey Starter, but after a month or so what should I switch them too? one more question haha, what is their egg laying cycle? at what age do they start and how often do they lay? thanks again for the help.

I have discovered i have one young tom and two hens. When i first posted these i thought they were around 8 weeks , the guy i got them from wasnt a good record keeper, that would put them at 10 weeks now .... if i was right but i am not sure. How old would you guys say they are?

This is a close up of the other hen . I have one other like this that is around 4 or 5 weeks old ... there agian i am guessing.
