Is my turkey too young/small to eat yet? Can I fatten him up in time?

Oh my gosh Pat, if my bird looks as good as that I'll be a rock star!!

I've penned them up. I think we'll eat the biggest one for Thanksgiving and maybe give the rest a few extra weeks to fatten up. Next year we'll get them much earlier in spring so they have more time to grow. I just can't see feeding all of them over the winter. Maybe I'll keep a few to compare how they taste when they're older.

Thanks so much!

What a beautiful bird!!! My birds were born May 14 and we were planning to cook one for us, but were leaving the rest for next year. I just had a friend approach me wanting to buy two. One for her and one for her MIL. I was iffy because I thought they were too young, but now after seeing this I'm wondering. Did you raise yours by free ranging or did you have him confined to a small area? Mine are all over the place. Do you know how much he weighed before you butchered it? My husband is thinking of weighing them first before we decide. If we sell a young turkey that was free ranged and raised naturally, How much should we price them at???
